My whole life I have expressed myself in some way through art. Art surrounds us in our daily lives. Art can be found in a variety of places. Whether it is in music, a painting or even in nature, it is all around us. I want to create an environment of expression just as I was given. I would like to give my students a space to express and learn from art in a way that they can take it and use it in the real world. Creating an appreciation for art is just as important to me as teaching expression through art.
As an educator I will create a progressive learning environment and to achieve this I have three main goals.
- I will start slow and get to know each student through a goal assessment in order to purposeful plan lessons tailored toward the needs of each student.
- I will focus on the students’ opinions through interaction and collaboration. I would like to create an open learning environment to allow students to express themselves in a way that meets the needs of their learning style.
- I will empower my students through a positive learning environment by recognizing their strengths and encouraging them to find their passion. Rather than shedding light on negative qualities or disabilities, we will embrace them together and find a solution.
My responsibility as an educator is to be a good leader and provide my students with a quality education. I am also responsible for creating boundaries and a safe place for my students to express themselves. I will keep a consistent line of communication to my students as well as their families.
I want to create a positive environment with feedback and exploration into the community and cultures that may feel different from what they are used to. I would like to offer my students choices in how they present their work. I will encourage them to try new things to get out of their comfort zone. My classroom will be inviting and welcoming to bring a sense of belonging to my students.
